Big news for Colorado and for film lovers everywhere! Governor Jared Polis has officially signed House Bill 25-1005 into law, a move that could pave the way for the Sundance Film Festival to make Boulder its new home. The bill offers up to $34 million in tax credits over the next ten years to attract world-renowned festivals—like Sundance—to Colorado, along with $5 million in incentives to support our amazing smaller festivals statewide.
This isn't just about bringing in big names; it’s about enriching our local culture, boosting small businesses, and establishing Colorado as a serious hub for film production. I’m especially thrilled about this one, because before I became a realtor, I got my start in the film world. While studying for my real estate license, I worked on car commercials as a production assistant and logistics coordinator. Those early days gave me such an appreciation for the incredible work that goes into film—and I know this bill will help bring more of that energy and opportunity to our beautiful state.
The ripple effects will be felt far beyond Boulder. Surrounding communities—and truly all of Colorado—stand to benefit from this cultural and economic momentum. Can’t wait to see what the next few years bring!
